Solar Powered Paddling Centre

On Tuesday, June 20, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson marks the official launch of the Creekside Solar Now renewable energy installation. The project features a total of 60 solar PV modules mounted on six boat sheds, with a generating capacity of 2.5 kilowatts per shed. The system will feed clean electricity back into the grid, and help to offset a portion of the energy used at the nearby Creekside Recreation Centre.

LAUNCH DETAILS

  • Where: on the eastern platform overlooking the boat sheds for Creekside Paddling Centre (in front of the Creekside Recreation Centre at 1 Athletes Way, adjacent to Science World)

An approximately 18-kilowatt array of solar panels have been installed on six boat sheds alongside Vancouver’s False Creek. This high-traffic pedestrian area across from Science World offers excellent visibility and will allow visitors the opportunity to get an up-close look at a typical residential-sized solar installation.
