Village Life – June 6 Update

There’s lots going on in the Village.

Eating Local, Island StyleThe Main Street Farmer’s Market is now open (today was the first day of the 2012 season). The market runs every Wednesday between 3 pm – 7 pm in front of the train station. Check it out if you’re looking for local fruit, vegetables, meat, or baked goods.

This Friday Urban Fare will be opening Friday at 4:30 pm. It will be open 7 days a week from 7 am to 9 pm. Although it may not be everyone’s first choice for shopping, it will be nice to have a grocery store close by for quick purchases.

Thursday between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm the City of Vancouver is hosting an open house at the Creekside Community Centre to discuss what the False Creek Flats could look like if the viaducts are torn down. If you’re interested, but can’t make the open house, there is lots of interesting material on the city’s website.

About canadianveggie

I enjoy exploring the great outdoors, eating good vegan food, cycling around Vancouver, solving problems with software, learning about urban planning, and discussing politics.
